Diagnosis And Treatment Of Scabies - Men's Health

Scabies is an infectious skin disease which is caused by mites. Scabies mites lay eggs, reproduce and grow on the skins of human (mostly men). These mites can cause severe itching, skin rashes and lots more damages to the skin. Sometimes itching extends up to several years as they rapidly spread on other parts of the skin. That is why; scabies is also termed as "Seven-year itch".

Scabies symptoms are pretty similar to eczema, psoriasis, insect bite and other skin irritations. Therefore it gets difficult to diagnose scabies.

Diagnosis of Scabies

Mites make burrows on the skin and can be detected. Doctor will put mineral oil (few drops) onto any burrow and scratch out little portion of the affected skin. One can see mites, their feces and eggs through microscopes.

In some cases, mite burrows are not easy to identify. In that case, apply blue black ink on the skin. While applying ink, you will notice that ink is clotted at some portion and rest is blotted away. The clotted portions are the burrows made by mites. In addition, after applying ink, burrows attain their original color.

Another method of diagnosis is wood's light. In this method, a particular antibiotic solution is put on the skin and later skin surface is wiped. The solution's specific light wavelength makes burrows visible to the doctor.

Skin rashes and high itchiness are also scabies's characteristics.

Treatment of Scabies

Scabies is a rampant disease but not incurable. There are loads of effective medical treatments for scabies available. Scabies can be treated with medical lotion, solutions, creams, medicines and others. Even self care at home can be advantageous.

However, prevention is the best treatment of scabies. Try to avoid contact with the affected person. Don't share cloths, bed sheets or intercourse with the affected person. Stay clean and hygienic as much possible.

If someone is suffering from scabies, regularly change his underclothes, bed sheets, etc. Clean their clothing in boiled water. Also, treat the person having contacts, sexual contacts etc with the affected person, preventing him from the infection.

Natural Arthritis Remedy - How Diet Can Help

Do you know how much difference your diet can really make to those painful arthritis symptoms? Find out more about top natural arthritis remedies, hints and tips. Feel those painful, stiff, joint pains gradually fade away...

Around this time of year, as the weather starts to get cold and damp, you might be starting to feel those old aches and pains rearing their awful head...

It's tempting to reach for the pill bottle, but after a while, the pills won't work ... you need to find a natural remedy instead ...and one that works really well!

Your aches and pains may be a symptom of arthritis. Did you know that there are more than a hundred different types of arthritis? So this diagnosis does cover quite an array of different conditions.

Arthritis, of any kind, is a swelling in the joint. This swelling and inflammation causes pain, stiffness, difficulty in movement, redness and heat.

It is not known precisely what causes arthritis. Some factors which may play a part are hereditary factors, diet and lifestyle, a previous injury, or stress on the joint, allergy, a viral infection or an immune disorder.

Of course, with so many different factors involved, this means it can sometimes be difficult to pin down the exact cause of your arthritis, or decide on the best remedy to choose.

Your diet is a good place to start. It is quite possible that aspects of your diet may be causing your arthritis - or just making it worse. This might happen even if you normally eat a very health guide diet.

There are certain foods that should definitely be avoided if you have arthritis. Some of these are the 'usual suspects' such as refined and processed foods, sugar, salt, red meat and dairy produce. Drinks such as coffee, tea and alcohol should be avoided where possible - and, sadly, chocolate too! Other foods to be avoided are potatoes, tomatoes, aubergines, spinach, peppers and acidic fruits such as citrus fruits, rhubarb and strawberries. These, seemingly healthy, fruit and vegetables can actually have a very big effect on your arthritis symptoms.

The other foods which you should avoid, are any foods which you are allergic to. Take a simple test to discover the foods you may be allergic to or intolerant of - and then try cutting these out of your diet for a while. (You can find the hair analysis test I used on my website - just see the link at the end.)

Well that's enough about what you can't have...! What about the foods you can eat, and that are actually good for your arthritis. You will be pleased to discover that these do actually exist!

Of course, your diet should largely be based on the usual principles of a health diet - boring maybe, but necessary - you'll feel so much better! This is a diet based on wholegrain cereals, and plenty of fresh fruit and veg. If you can include raw fruit and vegetables in your diet (such as salad), this will be even more beneficial.

Include a small amount of fish, chicken and eggs - and a small amount of goat's milk products (if you are not allergic).

Other foods you should try to incorporate regularly are fresh (not tinned!) pineapple (it is the fresh enzymes in pineapple you need, which are destroyed by long term storage). Also try fresh juices made from carrot, beetroot, celery and cucumber. Celery juice, especially, is thought to be very beneficial as a natural remedy for arthritis, so you should aim for drinking some every day.

Swapping your usual cup of tea, or coffee, for anti-oxidant filled green tea should also help to alleviate those painful arthritis symptoms.

Of course, your diet isn't the only natural remedy for arthritis. There are lots of other options too. There is a whole range of supplements available, plus effective herbal remedies.

There are also the holistic remedies that many people swear by. These are treatments like acupuncture, yoga or t'ai chi, reflexology, osteopathy or chiropractic, aromatherapy and a whole array of relaxation remedies, as well as magnetic therapy bracelets. (I swear by magnetic therapy bracelets to help cure my own aches and pains - again find out more on my website - see the link at the end).

Finding The Perfect Health Insurance Plan For You And Your Family

Today in the United States, the cost of health care continues to rise steadily. This makes finding the right health insurance policy a lot more difficult. You need to be clear about your needs as well as understand what are and what are not covered by the different health insurance policies. Knowing this vital information can help you make an informed decision on which particular health insurance policy to choose for you and your family.

Health Insurance Plan for Individuals

An individual health insurance plan, as the name implies, covers only one person. If you are not married or do not have any other person to worry about, an individual health insurance plan is the best option for you. However, there are several varieties of individual health insurance plans. Choose the individual health insurance plan according to your spending power and coverage you want.

An Indemnity Plan is a type of individual health insurance plan that gives you the freedom to choose any medical care provider. This plan will also cover the services that you avail of. However, this coverage will largely depend on the deductible you have paid and how much you are ready to pay out-of-pocket. It's a trade-off: your monthly premium will be expensive but you get to choose your doctor or medical institution to provide you the medical care you need.

HMOs, which are the most popular individual managed plans, do not offer you the freedom that an indemnity plan offers. If you go with an HMO, you can only choose a medical care provider from their network or list. You can go to a specialist only if you have a referral. If you only require check ups and sometimes antibiotics, you should opt for this plan.

You can pay extra and avail of dental and prescription drug coverage under both kinds of plans specified above.

Health Insurance for Family

Family health insurance plans are for families. Compared to individual health insurance policies, family health insurance plans cost higher. If you have a large family, your family health guide insurance cost will be higher too. Other factors can determine the costs of your monthly premium include: gender mix in your family, lifestyle and habits (e.g., smoking, drinking, etc). Indemnity plans exist for families and offer the same freedom as for individuals. These are better because you are dealing with many people whose needs and medical needs may vary.

Managed care plans for families also exist. They have features very similar to managed health care plans for individuals. The cost will be higher but definitely less than the family indemnity plans.

Health Insurance Plan for Groups

Many employers offer their employees the benefit of insurance coverage. They pay the premium for their employees. The amount that you need to pay will depend on the policy you choose because companies offer both kinds of policies.

The Billings Birth Control Method

The Billings or mucus inspection method was named after John and Evelyn Billings - two Australian doctors who developed the method in 1953. It is based on the examination of the vaginal and cervical mucus which change as hormone levels vary during the course of the woman's menstrual cycle.

Each morning, the woman is obliged to inspect the mucus for changes that may indicate fertility. This is likely to occur if her cervical mucus is thin, clear and profuse which normally happens four days before ovulation. After menstruation, in the absence of mucus or days after it becomes thick and sticky, it is safe to have sex.

"To detect these changes, the vaginal area is blotted each morning with a facial tissue and then the mucus is tested between the thumb and forefinger. After the menstrual period, there will be several days with no mucus discharge. This is followed by several days of a thick, sticky, yellow or white discharge. There will be one or two days when the mucus becomes transparent and very slippery, with the consistency of raw egg whites. The mucus will form a string between the thumb and forefinger. This is when ovulation occurs," according to the editors of Consumer Guide's "Family Health & Medical Guide."

"After ovulation, the mucus again becomes thick and sticky or there may be no mucus at all. The fertile period begins with the thick, sticky, yellow or white discharge and continues until about three days after the phase when the mucus has the consistency of egg whites. Intercourse should be avoided during this time. In other words, the safe period is from three days after the slippery mucus stage to about three days after the end of the menstrual period," said Consumer Guide.

The muco-thermal or sympto-thermal method is a combination of the temperature method and the mucus inspection method. It relies on the observation of the basal body temperature and the cervical mucus which undergo changes during ovulation. Couples should avoid sex for 10 to 14 days during ovulation.

What are the advantages of natural family planning (NFP) methods? They are safe, inexpensive, have no physical side effects, acceptable to religious groups that do not allow other contraceptives and help women gain a better understanding of their bodies.

On the downside, the failure rate of NFP methods can go as high as 20 percent, especially for beginners. Couples should abstain from sex until the time that the woman is familiar with her mucus pattern. This may take at least a month which is bad for those who don't have the discipline to avoid intercourse that long.

What's more, the woman must keep an accurate record of her cycle to prevent pregnancy. This makes women with irregular menstrual cycles or those who go on months without menstruating poor candidates for NFP.

However, even in women with regular cycles, the strict observation of the cervical mucus and basal body temperature is not always reliable. This is because factors such as stress, illness and the use of certain drugs (particularly antihistamines) can delay ovulation or alter the appearance of the mucus. This reduces the effectiveness of NFP techniques.

"A vaginal infection or semen can change the color and consistency of cervical mucus and make interpretation difficult, especially for beginners. And infection, jet lag and stress can cause temperature fluctuations. It's all so complicated that experts urge couples considering a 'natural' method to take classes or get individual training to learn the subtleties crucial to success," concluded Deborah Franklin in Health Guide magazine. Now, if you have a health insurance policy, you can be assured that there is something you can fall back on. You just need to concentrate to recover from your illness and don't have to worry about how much you have incurred on your medical fee as majority of the cost will be covered by the insurance company.

A Quick Guide To Asbestos And Health Issues

Unless you have been completely out of touch, you have probably heard all the hubbub about the dangers of asbestos. So, what is the big deal?

A Quick Guide to Asbestos and Health Issues

Asbestos is a fibrous material that is highly resistant to burning. It has a long history. While it was first used on a large scale commercial basis at the turn of the twentieth century, it has actually been around much longer. In fact, the ancient Egyptians were known for using it burial clothes.

Common modern applications used to include building materials, products and automobile brake pads, which all required a fire resistant element. Asbestos is still used today, but on a fairly small scope. The reason has everything to do with health guide. Asbestos in and of itself is not harmful to people. What is harmful, however, is asbestos dust.

Asbestos dust is a vicious thing. Due to the chemical makeup of the material, the dust is like a cloud of fine glass particles. While they will not damage your skin, they do great damage to the lungs. Making matters worse, asbestos dust is so fine that it is easily raised from asbestos material like ceiling tiles and walls. Once in the air, it is all but invisible. Prolonged exposure, such as when working on or in a building with asbestos materials, can result in massive amounts of the toxic dust entering the lungs.

Once asbestos dust is in your lungs, you cannot expel it by coughing. That doesn’t mean the body does not try. Asbestosis is scarring of the lungs from acid created by the body in an effort to get the asbestos dust out. If this process is allowed to occur for 10 to 20 years, the lungs may stop functioning because of excess scarring. If that sounds bad, it only gets worse. Asbestos dust can lead to terminal cancer in the form of mesothelioma. [What is Mesothelioma?]

Asbestos is an excellent fire resistant material that saves us from burning while killing us in a much slower manner. Since 1989, it has been banned in the United States in all but a few commercial areas.

Best Health Products Buying Guide

Health products are the rave these days. They are advertised all over the internet, newspapers, TV, magazines, they're everywhere!

So I thought to do some reading about these 'health products'. We generally associate health product with loosing weight. Food supplements, diet pills and energy drinks or at the most multi-vitamin tablets are what health guide products mean to the average consumer. But there also herbal products, made of more natural substances, which have now entered the marketing and are claiming attention. These don't, if genuine, claim to work miracles on your body within 24 hours. Herbal remedies like cumin-seed tea are also effective if taken according to instructions. The point of a health product is to regulate your metabolism and homeostasis that is allowing fat build-up in your body. For example the linings of your stomach may have lost its ability to absorb nutrients fully. But how do we know that the health product we are buying is really healthy? Here are a few tell-tale signs and pits to avoid:

1. Don't buy everything you see on TV: even the best chemically tested medicines contain literature which warns of side effects. Some people develop allergy to aspirin. So how is safe to order health medicine you've never heard about before, right of a TV or internet advertisement.

2. Listen to your intuition: If it claims to do unnatural things like 'reduce 50kg in 24 hours', you're in for a scam. If you're lucky, it won't do anything to you. At the most, just to make a few extra sales, the medicine may cause sudden weight-loss with subsequent complications later. The medicine may end up concentrating on a certain body part, thereby, causing disproportion in your figure. Another undesirable scenario maybe the loss of weight due to loss of muscle mass or body water, both very dangerous for your health.

3. Check with the FDA (Federal Drug Authority, USA): check the FDA's official website for a list of approved Health Products. There may be a delay in the approval of some excellent product by the FDA, but this is due to their meticulous checking procedure. But better safe than sorry. The products approved by them, on the other hand, are safe to use.

4. Consult a Doctor: if it's a good product, your dietician or physician should have an idea about it. Or more simply they may be able to recommend one. Best to ask them, rather risk your health to hear-say.

While taking Health Products, be careful;

1. Try herbal: if you have a medical of having allergic reaction to medicines, try herbal health care products. But even these with the consultation of your dietician. And remember doesn't mean there are bits of leaves and sunflower seeds in it. There are still chemical reactions involved, just less so, with more concentration on creating harmonious mixtures.

2. Don't shy away from exercise: don't expect to burn fat, unless you actually set it on fire:. The best health product can't substitute the walk in the morning or jog in the evening. Don't just become dependant on medicine to do the trick for you. On its own. Hit the tread-mill. Like Mr. T said 'no pain, no gain'.

3. Don't challenge your health product to a duel: just because the medicine is helping to digest all the fats you normally take in, don't go nuclear on it, by increasing the fat in-take.

Primary Caregiver - Guide To Good Health And Why It Is So Important

First and foremost, you must remember that your health is extremely important when you are a primary caregiver. Physical [and emotional] health must be maintained to successfully care for another individual. The patient is dependent on your abilities and capabilities. Poor health guide is not only dangerous for the caregiver, but can be critical to the care and mental health of their patient. The patient must feel confident in a caregiver.

The key to maintaining good health is to practice preventative measures. Trying to treat or correct a condition after it happens is much more difficult than preventing it to begin with.

Proper eating habits [while not always possible] can be practiced as routine, reducing the risks of compromised health. Increasing the amounts of fresh fruits and vegetables; and reducing the amounts of red (or fried) meats, will go a long way in maintaining a healthier you. Mealtime should be free of all distractions, if possible. All other activities should be avoided during this time. That means, no telephone calls, TV, online activities, reading -- nothing between you and your food! Remember, the mind and body function better with proper nourishment.

Scheduling your mealtime one hour prior to that of the patient's will most often work out better for everybody and allows time for your meal to digest. Since some patients require special meals or feeding, this practice also allows you to pay full attention to the needs of the patient during their meals.

Proper sleeping habits should be established by sticking to a scheduled bedtime. For those who cannot maintain this habit, staying within a one to two hour period of the same time nightly, will allow the body to function better during the day. It is essential to schedule a minimum of six hours, preferably eight hours of sleep each night. Sleeping more than this [barring special health guide conditions] can actually cause a person to perform more sluggishly throughout the day. If you have difficulty sleeping due to outside noises, white noise is very useful as a sleep aid. White noise could be simply running a box fan or a babbling tabletop water fountain. I fall asleep more readily to the sound of voices, so I leave my TV on with the timer set for an hour. Each person will be different, so find what works for you.

Proper exercise is an important dynamic to maintaining a healthy, strong body. The person in the role of caregiver knows all too well the physical challenges involved in the daily routine of their patient. From lifting, to bending and stooping, the caregiver will find themselves using muscles they never knew they had. So it becomes doubly important to practice Cardio-vascular exercises and incorporate stretching and muscle relaxation techniques into their routine.

On a final note to your physical health, if supplements become necessary, avoid medicinals and opt for herbs and vitamins. Energy and sleep aids, whether over the counter or prescribed should be avoided whenever possible so that the caregiver can think clearly and without delayed reaction in emergency situations.

A Guide To The Health Tourism Show

Showcasing a trend that has recently taken root in the country, the Health Guide Tourism Show is an exhibition that works to acquaint interested guests with the finer points related to the health industry. The event has been organised by Pro Global Media, and will take place on the 25th and 26th of October at the Olympia II in London.

The Olympia II exhibition area hosts three separate seminar theatres which will feature several seminars on new health trends and the latest medical procedures. The seminars will cover various fields in health and medicine such as dentistry, cosmetic procedures, and medical tourism and so on.

This medical tourism industry is starting to thrive, as more and more people are warming to the concept. Apart from financial considerations, there is also the possibility of enjoying a short vacation or respite from busy schedules.

The exhibition, conducted by Treatment Abroad, allows a person the unique advantage of consulting with their physicians well in advance of the actual procedures. This consultation has no strings attached and will allow a clearer understanding to develop between the two parties involved. The exhibitors are available to tackle any queries, and since they are all under the same roof, there is a unique opportunity to compare the charges of each. This gives the end user the ability to pick the treatment that is the best for them.

The Health Guide Tourism Show connects the users with not only the medical practitioners that they will be interacting with, but also aims to demonstrate the logistics involved in going about a venture such as this. The savings are perhaps the most staggering revelation of all, where medical bills can be reduced to about 50% of their original amounts; hardly an insignificant detail. In addition, the exhibition attempts to bring together the travel agents that specialise in this kind of travel, taking into account the condition, and the state of the patient in question, and what is best for them.

As with most venues in London, the space is connected very well with the railways systems, airports and of course the motorways. It is situated right on Kensington High Street, a road very easily accessible from all directions. If arriving by car, there are quite a few parking lots in the immediate surrounding area, the closest one running alongside the venue itself. The nearest railway station is the West Kensington station, a simple matter of ten minutes walking distance along the North End.

Roadmap To The Health Insurance Landscape - Finding The Right Guide

The health insurance landscape is as complicated as the Chicago Loop during construction season. It's full of twists and turns, detours and diversions, all designed to confuse and confound the casual driver. But you don't have to be a timid and vulnerable driver. The difference between being lost and being on point is a matter of having an up to date, concise, and understandable guide. The health guide insurance landscape can be negotiated with confidence by having a guide who can provide "turn by turn" directions to finding the right health insurance to meet all your needs.

Insurance companies maintain much of their power by keeping the consumer confused by exclusions, limitations, and a myriad of difficult to define terms. The average consumer, trying to choose a carrier and policy, finds the challenge of understanding policy language both anxiety provoking and threatening. But there is a way to simplify the process and bring the complex landscape of insurance coverage into perspective.

A qualified insurance specialist can help you through the complex language, specifications, and terms of insurance documents and policies. With a wealth of experience and training behind them, the specialist can be the difference between having over priced and unsuitable coverage and a policy that meets your needs at the best rate available. How many of us go to a automobile dealership to choose a used car without the input of a trusted mechanic? How many of us start out on a cross country trip without a roadmap? Finding health insurance, like many things in life, requires guidance and a degree of trust. Your insurance specialist can provide that guidance and, with time and commitment, answer that need for trust and confidence.

Choosing your insurance specialist carefully is job one for the consumer. Be sure to review your specialist's credentials, paying specific attention to their experience and association with a variety of insurance products. The broader the scope of their experience the better advice they can provide. But don't expect a specialist in auto insurance to be the best advisor in health insurance. The reverse is also true-insuring your car or home is a world different from insuring the health guide care coverage of you and your family.

The right insurance specialist for you is one that has built a career in the successful sale and administration of a variety of insurance products with a wide selection of carriers. But they are also good listeners who can help you determine your needs and priorities. You can't get directions to get somewhere unless you know where you're going. The right insurance specialist can listen to your concerns, the specifics of your family's needs, and your financial capabilities with respect to how they impact your health insurance requirements. Always plan on a lengthy interview with a prospective specialist and don't walk away until all your questions have been answered. A good specialist will be able to explain the complexities of health insurance in terms that you can understand and absorb.

The right health insurance specialist will be able to calm your fears about health insurance and you'll finally get some sleep knowing that someone who understands you, your needs, and your constraints is actively searching out health insurance solutions for you and your family. It is amazing how far you can get with the right guide who knows the lay of the land and all the short cuts to your destination. Like so many things in life-all it takes is the right guide.

Love Pains Caused By Haelth Cysts

A cyst is a sac filled with fluid or a semi fluid substance. One that develops in the ovary is called an ovarian cyst.

Ovarian cysts are common in women between the ages of 20 and 50. It can grow alone or in groups in one ovary or both. Such cysts can be less than an inch in diameter or more than 20 inches in diameter. Depending on their size and location, these growths can cause severe pain or no symptoms at all.

Most women are unaware that they have this problem until they have a routine pelvic examination. In others, ovarian cysts can cause abdominal pain or a sense of pressure and fullness, pain during intercourse, and delayed, irregular, or painful periods. Some women may experience frequent urination, nausea, fever, excessive hair growth and acne if the cysts are caused by hormonal imbalances.

"The origin of most ovarian cysts is unknown. In some instances, they develop from an abnormal egg. Others originate as eggs in polycystic ovaries (ovaries in which the eggs are not released after they mature). Still others are related to abnormalities in the ovary. Women with endometriosis (the displacement of tissue from the uterine lining to elsewhere in the body) tend to develop growths on the ovaries. Dermoid cysts, which are most often found in women under the age of 31, arise from ovarian cells that produce the eggs, and may contain fragments of hair, teeth, and bone," according to the editors of Consumer Guide's "Family Health & Medical Guide."

In about 85 percent of women, ovarian cysts are noncancerous and disappear after two or three menstrual cycles. Large cysts, however, can be dangerous, especially if they become twisted or are ruptured. Women who develop them between the ages of 50 and 70 also have a higher risk of ovarian cancer. Be alert for severe abdominal pain, fever, vomiting, rapid breathing, or cold, clammy skin. If you have these symptoms, see a doctor immediately.

"Cysts can rupture during sexual intercourse, a fall, childbirth, or surgery, or for no apparent reason. The resulting effect depends on how irritating the cystic fluid is to the surrounding tissues. The situation can be dangerous if the fluid is infected, cancerous, or extremely irritating. Also, in response to the injury caused by cystic fluid, surrounding tissues may produce adhesions (fibrous, scarlike material), which can further complicate the situation," said the editors of Consumer Guide's "Family Health Guide & Medical."

If a woman has no symptoms and is younger than 40 years, she should wait for a while for the cysts to disappear. If that doesn't happen, surgery is necessary.

"Cysts that are small, are not creating any problems, or are likely to disappear on their own require no treatment. If treatment is necessary, cysts may be removed surgically. Removal involves either taking out the entire ovary (called an oophorectomy) or taking out only the cyst (called a cystectomy)," Consumer Guide said.

Fasting- Can It Improve Your Health

What is Fasting?

The Miriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary defines fasting as to abstain from food or to eat sparingly or abstain from some foods. The practice of fasting goes back as far as we have written history. Fasting is practiced by many religions and is also practiced by many proponents of preventive medicine.

Fasting done correctly is the total elimination of food for a number of hours or days. Only water is taken in the body which allows the body to restore itself to optimal health.
You may hear people refer to "juice" fasts, where the only food taken in is fruit and vegetable juices but that is not a true fast. In fact the "Juice Fasts" should be called juice feasts as most proponents of juicing will take in nearly the same amount of calories as they would whole food during their regular nutrition schedule. No food is taken in during a true fast.

There are a significant number of people that practice "Natural Hygiene" where one of the major components is fasting done to cleanse the system of toxins and restore the body to health guide. Most fasting proponents will fast for short periods at least 2 times annually.

Scientists estimate that approximately 30% of your caloric intake is used in the digestion process. According to fasting experts when food is eliminated major beneficial changes take place in the body.

Once the initial stores of sugar contained in the liver are used up the body will use stored fat as fuel. The toxins that are contained in the fat are released as the fat is burned for fuel. No new toxins are being put into the body which allows the body to cleanse itself.

The fat levels are also reduced in the body and the bloodstream which will allow the blood to flow better because it will be "thinner". Since the blood flows better and is thinner it is able to better oxygenate the body tissues. Improved oxygenation of tissues along with less energy needed to digest new food during the fast is used by the body to regenerate cells, eliminate toxins and improve cell growth.

Many people will go through what is called a "Healing Crisis" during the first day or so during a fast. During this healing crisis people report symptoms similar to the flu or a bad cold. This is the body's way of telling you that it is getting rid of the toxins that have built up. These symptoms usually subside and get less with each subsequent fast.

Usually during a fast or just after the fast a person may notice a decrease in pain or possibly a total elimination of pain. After fasting many people say they feel better than they ever have.

A true fast where only water is used in place of food may not be suitable for everyone, especially those that eat a diet of mostly processed food. A juice fast may be best for these people. Water can cause a very strong detoxifying effect, which may be too uncomfortable for some people.

Short term fasts (1-2 days) can usually be done by the individual without any outside assistance. Longer term fasts which would be any fast longer than 3 days should only be undertaken with the advice and assistance of an experienced fasting supervisor.

Long term fasts which may last 30 days or longer are often used in the treatment of chronic disease. Long term fasts are often repeated several times with periods of healthy nutrition and exercise in between fasts. I have heard of fasts lasting as long as 300 days.

During the fast other therapies may also be use which help aid in the elimination of waste from your body. The use of exercise, colonics, sunlight, meditation, yoga stretching, tai chi, and Pilates as well as making sure the body gets plenty of rest are ways to assists the detoxification process.

Fasting has been reported to be effective in treating high blood pressure, headaches, allergies, arthritis and other inflammatory conditions, psychological problems, obesity, high cholesterol, lethargy, and general malaise.

Some studies in Scandanavia have shown that fasting can be effective in the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Fasting done properly is a low cost and effective therapy for a wide range of health guide related problems. Long fasts should only be undertaken with the aid of an experienced fasting supervisor.

Fasting supervisors may be physicians or health care professionals. You will find D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathy), ND (Doctor of Naturopathy), D.C (Doctor of Chiropractic) and Nutritionists among the many healthcare professionals that provide fasting supervision.

Should you decide to try fasting you should attempt to find a supervisor that has had training and experience in the administration of fasts. It is usually best to find someone who has actually been through fasting. Most proponents of fasting have indeed been through fasts and do them regularly

Hydrotherapeutic Procedures For Natural Pain Relief

Hydrotherapy is an inexpensive and infallible method for treating major and minor diseases. Water has countless remedies properties to relieve us from pain and several ailments. This article will discuss two commonly used hydrotherapeutic procedures - spinal bath and wet or dry fomentation with hot water.

Spinal bath -

The spine is a very important part of our body. The spinal bath strengthens, stimulates and nourishes the spine, thus indirectly benefiting the whole nervous system and the entire body.

Requirements for spinal bath - A spinal bath tub, a bath towel and a blanket. A tub specially designed for the spinal bath is marketed. The tub is wider at the top than at the bottom.

Method of spinal bath -

1. Fill the tub to a depth of about 2 inches (5 cm).

2. Lie down in the tub with the arms and the legs outside the tub. In this position, the entire spinal column with the exception of two or three vertebrae of the neck will be under the water level.

3. Wet the bath towel, fold it lengthwise, and place it as a support for the neck and the head on the slanting wall of the tub. When the head is allowed to rest on the towel, the whole spine will come in contact with water.

4. After taking up this position, cover the whole body except the head with a blanket, to protect the body from the outside draughts.

5. The bath should last for about 10 to 15 minutes in winter, and 15-20 minutes in summer.

Wet or dry fomentation with hot water -

Fomentation is very useful for relief of localized pain or for improving the circulation in a part of the body where for some reason the circulation has become sluggish.

Requirements for wet or dry fomentation - Hot-water bag or bottle

Method of wet or dry fomentation -

1. Cover the painful region with cloth dipped in hot water.

2. Subject the region to the action of steam from a special kettle, or apply heat by means of a hot-water bag or bottle. This results in sedation of the muscles, improvement in circulation and reduction of swelling. As a consequence, pain is relieved.

3. After the fomentation, the part subjected to the treatment must be wiped with a cloth soaked in cold water.

A healthy lifestyle will always attract lower health insurance rates.

Apart from your diet, your commitment to regular exercise will help you live better and also eventually get you lower health insurance rates.

If you drink then your health insurance rates will be higher than a similar profile that doesn't. Heavy drinking makes you a bad risk and therefore gets you higher health insurance rates. Many health guide conditions can be traced to drinking.

How much alcohol would be harmful to you as a person? I can't really say as there are people who can take a bottle of dry gin and still be okay while some will take just half a glass and things start going wrong.

But here's what I'm sure of: Staying away from alcohol totally will do you a world of good. For those who can't abstain totally, do your best to drink responsibly.

It's just that for most people drinking responsibly is even more difficult than total abstinence. There are organizations that are out to help alcoholics and heavy drinkers quit drinking. Just ask about them.

You will lower your health insurance rate by a huge margin if you can shop around using quotes sites and do proper comparison. Visiting not less than three quotes sites raise the chances that you would make more savings. This is because offers not represented by one site will be represented by another.

And because the likelihood of receiving lower health insurance quotes has to do with the range of quotes you receive, the more insurers you obtain quotes from, the brighter your chances. This offers you a broader basis for doing more thorough comparisons thereby increasing your chances of getting more for less.

2 Steps To Small Business Health Insurance Plans

For small businesses, group health insurance covers are the most appropriate option. The group health plans are suitable for organizations that employ from 2 to 50 people. Due to the rising costs of health care in the US, group health plans have become essential.

This rise in health care costs creates a challenge for small businesses that need to provide health insurance is affordable to their employees. By offering an attractive health insurance benefit you will not only attract new talent, but will ensure that you retain the existing.

Options of Group Insurance Plans:

Diversifying the financial risk amongst the members, is the objective of the group health plans. This results in premiums for members of the group that are below those of individual plans for the same cover. The factors that determine the premiums are health status, occupational hazards, age and many more to a lesser extent.

There will be variations from state to state and service provider to another. The basic cover is generally the same for everyone, but for a slightly higher premium you may improve your cover by negotiated add-ons.

These health insurance policies for small businesses are available under many programs, like, fee-for-service, HMO, POS and PPO. The popularity of managed care plans over the group indemnity plans is the affordability of the premiums.

Ensure that you a very clear objective when you decide to get a health insurance package for your small business. Do a lot of research to ensure that the health insurance plan you select will meet both the requirements of the employees and that of the business.

Affordable Family Health Insurance For Children And Students

Health insurance is a complex area and it's very easy to overlook the special needs of children and students. Finding an affordable health guide insurance plan that fits your needs is not always easy but, with some guidance, it is possible.

Nearly 10 years ago now Congress passed a plan entitled Title XXI, or the State Children's Health Insurance Program [SCHIP]. This plan was aimed at dealing with the growing number of children in the United States living without any form of health insurance. Unfortunately, for many families, their income is not sufficient to afford private health insurance but is too high to apply for Medicaid. Under this state plan however the family is charged a maximum of 5% of their gross annual income and, in many cases, can receive medical treatment at no cost at all.

The cover provided under this program varies from state to state, but all states must provide a minimum of cover including such things as well-baby and well-child physicals, immunization and emergency services.

One thing to note is that, if your child is already covered under a health insurance policy, then he or she will not be eligible for the state coverage.

If your children are not eligible for medical care under the state plan then you will need to consider whether they should be covered under a family policy or on their own individual policies. As a general rule, it will normally be more cost-effective to have a family policy although, if you have only one child, an individual policy for that child may prove to be more cost-effective.

When it comes to student health insurance most colleges and universities have their own health care clinic for treating routine ailments such as colds, sore throats and minor sports injuries.

However, all students should have some form of health insurance cover for unexpected medical problems including more complex illnesses and surgery.

If possible, you should try to have your children covered on your own individual or family policy and most policies will cover children even when they are away at school. Some policies may however place certain restrictions on coverage and these should be checked carefully.

If you find that your children need their own individual health insurance policies whilst away at college, then there are a number of insurance companies that cater specifically to the needs of students. You should however research this area carefully and make certain that the cover being provided meets your needs.

It is all too easy to assume that the government will take care of the health needs of children and that colleges and universities will likewise take care of their students. Unfortunately, this is not the case and, as parents, it falls to us to ensure that our children get the health care that they need.

If you are looking for affordable family health insurance or indeed any form of low cost health insurance plan then the Internet provides an excellent starting point for your search.
